Scientific research conducted at the institute is a synergic combination of theory and practice crucial for educating our students in the field of electrical engineering systems. It comprises research on circuits, systems, engineering metrology and electrical engineering physics.

Our research focuses on the theory of circuits, networks and nonlinear systems as well as functional modelling, functional and numeric analysis and methods of computational intelligence. Recently new effective methods of nonlinear circuits analysis with numerous DC solutions were developed. We also work on developing methods of analysing dynamic systems with the use of relaxation methods and analysing and diagnosing analogue electronics with the use of evolutionary techniques, including gene expression programming.

Moreover, the intelligent converters to measure nonsuisoidal voltage and the criteria of their use to estimate power quality parameters were designed in our institute in the field of engineering. The diagnostic and testing systems equipped with innovative measurement techniques were also designed and manufactured. As for the engineering physics, the research was conducted in the field of engineering materials and micro and nanotechnology materials.  The researchers presented the descriptions of dynamic thermal, magnetic and contact phenomena in superconducting materials. Additionally, they improved the technology of high temperature massive and layered thermal superconductors and superconducting composites YBaCuO-Ag.

Our research in the field of laser micro technology aims at manufacturing and modifying passive properties of electronic elements and elements of microsystems and sensors. Importantly, computerised measurement systems were created along with specialized IT tools to be used in material engineering. Also, two original material technologies and the flicker meter design were developed by the institute’s academic staff and subsequently they received four patents.

The institute houses state-of-the-art laboratories, e.g. smart transmitters and industrial measurements laboratory, a superconductivity laboratory, and a laser and LM² laboratory.

Furthermore, it provides a wide range of courses, strictly connected with its research areas,  which are available for all the students of the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering, but also numerous elective subjects, core subjects and tutorials for students from other faculties of TUL.

Students of the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering can additionally benefit from participating in classes on measurement in electrical supplies and can take exam to work at 1 kV station.

We also offer postgraduate interdisciplinary studies.
